Yvonne Garza and José Luis Rocca

Soprano Yvonne Garza and pinist Jose Luis Rocca will perform in the gala nights of the 23rd International Festival Dr. Alfonso Ortiz  Tirado 2007, on Wednesday 24th at Cobach’s Theater Auditorium in Hermosillo and on Friday 26th at Alamos’ City Hall.

Bellini’sopera Norma; Vals de Musetta from opera La Bohemiaand O Mio Bambino Caro from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Gianni Schicchi and Ah ¡ Je Veux Vivre from Charles  Gounod’s opera  Romeo y Julieta.

Obtained the degree in music from the Columbus University of Georgia and the mastery in music from the University of North Carolina. Her debut was in the Palace of the Fine Arts next to tenor Ramon Vargas in the role of Ines in La Favorita. She also participated in the production of “The Magic Flute” next to tenor Franciso Araiza in the same theater. She has won national and international prestigious contests like Carlo Morelli in Palm Beach Opera and for three years in a row, the first place in the contest from the National Association of Teachers of Singing from United States (NATS). Her outstanding performance in the courses given by Metropolitan Opera House teachers, organized by SIVAM, took her to be invited to sing in a tribute to Placido Domingo in Washington, D.C., and afterwards a scholarship for the opera course at the Israel Vocal Arts in Tel Aviv.

Yvonne has been soloist from the most important orchestras in the country under the conducting of maestros like, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, Enrique Barrios and Fernando Lozano, Antón Guadagno, Paul Nadler, Felix Carrasco, Marco Letonia, Gabriel Garrido and Guido María Guida, among others. Her wide repertoire includes genres from zarzuela, Broadway music, oratorio, lied and opera, where highlights her performances of Mimí in La Bohemia, Micaela in Carmen, Violeta in La Traviata, Lucyin El Teléfono, Lía in L’enfant prodige, ElMarciano and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, in a cinematographic adaptation of Jesusa Rodriguez sponsored for Rockefeller Foundation and CONACULTA. Yvonne Garza was founder member of the Metropolitan Opera Company conducted by maestro Eric Steinmna. She has participated in several productions of zarzuela and operetta in Pro-Culture of Monterrey.

José Luis RoccaJose Luis Rocca, pianist
Native from Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, he studied piano in the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, graduated from the Bachelor in Artistic Education with specialty in Music in the Escuela Normal Superior and achieve a degree in musical investigation in the National University of Mexico. He has numberless of presentations as a soloist and in recitals in the main cities and cultural centres of Mexico. Has performed en several occasions under the conducting of the well-known maestros Felix Carrasco from Nuevo Leon’s Symphony Orchestra, and of Ramon Shade from Coahuila’s Chamber Orchestra.

Jose Luis Rocca participated in the first two editions of the Music and Opera Encounter, where he took master classes with the world wide known pianist Guadalupe Parrondo and with Doctorate in Music Fernando Garcia Torres.  In the Chamber Music International Festival of San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato, assisted to master classes with famous pianist Enrique Graff and Martha Garcia Renart. He has been invited to participate in Coahuila’s International Festival of the Arts where obtaining great success. In December 2003, was invited to participate in the Biennale Internacionale of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy, with a concert with the best selection of the Mexican music. He has the honor of being included in Coahuila’s Biographic Dictionary, for being considered a distinguish citizen. He is professor in the Superior School of Music of Coahuila’s University.
